Frequently Asked Questions
You may have a question that is not listed on our web pages. We have a list of faq’s most asked about the program and services offered!
Do you have WIFI?
Yes, we do. It’s free. And plenty of free parking too (just thought we would throw that in).
Is there shopping in the area?
There is no shopping per se in the Port Elgin Village. You would need to go into Moncton for the major stores, about 40 minutes drive by car. There are also many shops to see in Sackville & Shediac, New Brunswick and Amherst, Nova Scotia both about 30 minutes away by car.
What clothes should I bring?
Depending on the season, you need to dress accordingly. Bring really warm clothes in the winter with a heavy coat, sweaters, boots, mittens and a hat. In the summer months bring your usual summer attire and sweaters or a light jacket in case of cooler evenings which occasionally happens (remember we are close to the ocean). During the fall and spring months, have warmer clothes available and dress in layers.
Bring a raincoat and hat for walking outdoors when we venture out on a hike (in light rain or ‘shine’). Good running shoes or hiking boots will come in handy too.
In the inn and spa areas we ask that you bring your own indoor slippers (or we will provide them) so that we can maintain a clean and homey atmosphere for everyone.
Do you have a spa?
Yes, our we have a large, private room in the main Victorian style building dedicated to many pampering services for you to choose from. Some of the services may also be done in your room. Spa services are also included in your 4 & 7+ Night Program Packages. We provide spa robes.
What other wellness services do you provide?
We off naturopathic consultations and therapeutics at an extra charge while you are here. Dr. Randy and Marian are registered with the A.P.N.N. (Association of Professional Naturopaths and Naturotherapists). Check your insurance company for reimbursement.
What's the Jazzed for Juice Program?
We do get many inquiries about the juicing program. The Jazzed for Juice Program is designed for whole body cleansing. You can get a jump-start on your weight loss goals, but Jazzed for Juice is not a longer term weight loss strategy. You need to stay on the juice program for the days you committed to once you decide to join this program — much more produce is purchased for your juicing program, so this fresh food will spoil if you switch to our regular food program earlier than you signed up for.
Do I need a car?
You will need to rent a car at the airport or drive from your location, although many people will find that they will use their car infrequently because of the day to night activities on the program. There are things to do in the area and many will go as a group. Note that parking is free.
Some people may want to tour the Maritimes while they visit, so a car is necessary for these adventures too.
Is coffee available? I don't think I am able to give it up yet.
As a wellness program, we do not recommend coffee as a beverage. However, we realize that many people do drink it and do not plan to give it up. We offer caffeinated black tea and green tea as an alternative. Well also serve delicious ginger tea and other herbal combinations. If you absolutely need a cup every day, Marian will find a way to get you one. PS she uses a French press 🙂
I am visiting as a single person. Will I feel awkward by myself?
Not at all. We have mostly singles, many women and some doubles. Everyone is made to feel safe and welcome.
Do you have a gym on the property
No, we encourage nature walks, stretching movements, bands and tubes.
Is your program vegetarian?
We are a healthy vegetarian (vegan) program with limited or no grains, no seitan, gluten, soy, dairy, peanuts, white sugar, white potatoes or red meat. We do offer the option of wild caught fish or organic chicken three times per week.
Is there a hair dryer in my room?
Yes. Plus an iron and ironing board.
How close are you to the water?
We are just yards away from the tidal Gaspereau River and a few minutes away from the ocean. There are warm ocean beaches to swim and relax about a 20 minute drive from our location.
What time should I come on my day of arrival?
Although the check-in time is 4 pm, if you arrive before your room is ready, we will store your luggage away safely until it is. If your room is ready, you are welcome to go in before 4 pm.
The first meal provided is dinner on your day of arrival. You can begin the program any time after you arrive and if you want to have lunch with us, there is an extra charge. Please let us know at least a day before your arrival date if you want the extra meal.
Are you medical doctors?
No, with our previous credentials (see About Us), recent course studies combined with other courses and educational training we have had over the years fulfilled the requirements with the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada (ACPNN & APNN).
Therefore, we do not practice medicine and do not diagnose or treat diseases or medical conditions. We focus on promoting health and optimal function. Our educational services and programs are not meant to substitute or replace those of a medical doctor but meant to work in conjunction with them.
Do you prescribe medications?
No. We do not prescribe or make recommendations about prescription medications or controlled substances. Your prescribing medical doctor will manage all medications. We use natural, noninvasive methods such as nutritional therapy, herbs, supplements, stress management techniques and lifestyle changes to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal function and health.
Do you accept insurance?
For our spa / naturopathic consults, we can write insurance receipts. Check with your provider. Our programs in general are considered above the standard of care and therefore elective as far as the insurance industry is concerned. We do everything we can to make sure our programs and services are affordable, and available to most everyone!
About Our Programs
Naturally Well Program
Naturally Well is our core wellness program designed to help people optimize their health by education and the experience of eating well, body movement, meditiation, mindfulness and deep relaxation – a true retreat in natural surroundings. We also offer spa services and naturopathic consultations.
Jazzed for Juice Program
Green juices are one of the best ways to support a healthy immune system because they are packed full of nutrition. Green juice also helps your body absorb nutrients from leafy greens and veggies (and perhaps some low sugar fruit for taste) easier than it does when you chew them. A great body cleansing program, Jazzed for Juice is can be a bridge between eating food and water-only fasting.
Weight Mastery Program
Most people know how to lose weight, but to keep it off long term while dropping fat pounds in a healthy way can be difficult. We help make it easier with our easy-to-follow Seikon-Chikara princples and food plan. Where Weight Mastery shines is in addressing the psychological as well as the physiological principles of why people do not lose weight and how they can! The Weight Mastery Program is an addon to the core Naturally Well Program.
H-2-0 Fasting Reset Program
Water-only fasting is a safe program when supervised and done correctly. Some people should not water fast such as pregnant women, people with a low weight, advanced disease, on certain medications, the elderly and those who are extremely stressed. For those who are good candidates, water-only fasting reduces inflammation quickly and begins to restore health as it cleanses the body. It also helps reduce disease risk when followed by a good wellness lifestyle plan.
